Come in…

…I’ve been expecting you.

When I wrote the conclusion to the Portal Diaries, I asked you, the reader, to imagine me in my new temporary home. If you did – thank you. After I left that flint cottage by the sea I moved into a little detached house in a pretty village. Then I moved to the farmhouse; a little white farmhouse on a hill. As it turned out, I spent the very last drops of summer in that farmhouse. And now I’ve moved again. I’ve moved to another cottage. It's an old stone cottage with oak doors and flagstone floors. I feel safe here. This cottage is high up in the mountains. A river runs through its land and it snows here – a lot. Here, I am enveloped by white. White, like a clean sheet of paper. White, like another brand new start.

This time, however, I don’t want you to imagine where I am – I want to show you where I am. This is where I’m going to be living/writing/reading/being for the next five months. This is where I’ve decided to stop (for a spell).  And I wanna let you in.

I really hope my endeavour does not come over as conceited or arrogant. – Why would anyone care where I was? The thing is, I always love it when the writers of the blogs I follow give me a little photographic window into their world. Whether it be Starts With One’s "favorite spot," Alice Walker’s chicken coops, McCaffery’s bedroom wall or Eccentricity's back yard. Believe it or not, I did come. I was there, and I am grateful to you for letting me in.

After all, it can be cold outside.

  1. yes...so nice to be inside your home. Can I curl up and have some hot cocoa next to your dog? (This is really a great experience, seeing photos of your new home)

    xoxo.
